Rwanda Bird Atlas Project
By Joseph Desire DUFITUMUKIZA
Rwanda is home to over 700 spectacular bird species, from the iconic Albertine Rift endemics, Migratories, common resident as well as the vibrant waders across wetlands. Yet, as habitats change rapidly, we lack up-to date data on exactly where these birds live, breed, and migrate. The Rwanda Bird Atlas Project is changing that. We are mobilizing local communities, students, and citizen scientists to map every bird species across the country. This vital map will serve as the official blueprint for Rwanda's future conservation policies, protecting threatened species before they disappear.
