Dembo Jatta is a Gambian ornithologist with a strong background in avian ecology and conservation. He holds an MSc in Conservation Biology from the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology, University of Cape Town, where his research focused on the survival probability of Hooded Vultures in The Gambia. Dembo has over seven years of field experience with the Kartong Bird Observatory and has worked with a range of conservation organizations, including the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), Conserve Global, the Osprey Leadership Foundation, and Conservation Without Borders. He has contributed to research on bird migration, avian influenza monitoring, and youth conservation leadership along the East Atlantic Flyway. Dembo is a licensed bird ringer (C-permit) under the British Trust for Ornithology and an active member of the IUCN Vulture Specialist Group, committed to advancing conservation science and capacity building across West Africa
